The Camella singing group was founded in 1993 at the music school in the North Bohemian glass-making center Nový Bor. The group was originally made up of women and young girls, but was later transformed into three separate groups: a women´s chorus, a girls´ chorus and a mixed boys and girls chorus. There are also two junior training choruses, Písklata and Kameláček. Altogether, the Camella singing group has 130 members. Since 1993, the group has organized four international festivals for mixed singing groups under the heading Crystal Chorus. Over 35 groups from 16 countries have taken part in the festivals. The girls´ chorus and the mixed chorus have participated in concerts througout the Czech Republic as well as in Slovakia (1995), France (1994 and 1997), Italy (1995, 1996 and 1997), Germany (2000), Slovenia (2001) and, in 1998, an international competition on the Greek island of Rhodes. The group´s top honors were a silver medal at an international competition held in 1997 in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and second place at the Bohuslav Martinů international competition in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, in 1999. In 2000, the group took part in several charity fund-raising programs on TV Nova. Jiří ©trobl serves as conductor for all of the groups. Pianist R. Poláček, composer B. Myslík, music student K. Pittauerová from the Brno Music Academy JAMU and other artists also work closely with the group.
